ANOTHER awesome android developer to add to the already impressive speaker line-up this year!
Roman Birg from AOKP will be speaking about Android Open Source Project (AOSP) framework.
A little bit about Roman's talk:
This session will be a walk-through on how to setup eclipse and use it for Android platform and framework development. It will start with the very basics, like downloading the source code, and go through the steps of adding a feature to the AOSP code and how to write, compile, and test it.
This session will be most interesting to people who love ROMs and are interested in learning more on the subject, or taking a stab at it themselves.
Roman has been working on Android ROMs for about 3 years. He started by rooting his G1, but that wasn’t enough; he wanted to keep customizing his phone further and further. Eventually he started to try and mod things on his own and ended up really enjoyed it. Soon after his ROM-development debut, he realized he couldn't make every user happy. He began integrating options to allow users to customize their phones, he called it ROM Control. He continued this ROM Control trend after getting a Galaxy Nexus, and started a new project: AOKP. Today, AOKP has over 1,000,000 unique device installations (that’s official and unofficial builds) and more than 20 active code committers!
