The Big Android BBQ (BABBQ), the world’s largest and most exciting community organized Android developer conference, has called the Dallas / Fort Worth Metroplex its home for the past 4 years. The reasons for moving the conference from its original location in Austin are numerous, but the Hurst Conference Center is chief among them. It is a spacious, state-of-the-art facility that is conveniently located just minutes from DFW International airport, a major hub for American Airlines.
The BABBQ, the signature event of the Dallas based non-profit organization IDEAA (International Developer Education & Advocacy Alliance), attracts attendees from all over the world and hosting the event in Dallas allows us to keep our costs low, which we are able to translate into extremely low ticket prices. $75 for a general admission ticket that includes an opening keynote, myriad of informative sessions, an open bar networking event, and food/drink at our closing event. Most other Android conferences charge between
$500 - $2000! Combine our low registration prices with extremely affordable hotel options less than a block away (Hyatt, Hampton Inn & Suites, and the Holiday Inn Express) and the complete cost of a trip to the BABBQ is a fraction of what attendees would pay JUST for the cost of admission to our competitor’s event.
This year we are providing even MORE value to our attendees through our partnership with Google Developers, the BABBQ presenting sponsor. As such, Google is sending an army of their best and brightest Senior Android Developers to give presentations and lead code labs that will challenge and inspire developers to optimize the performance of their Android Apps - the theme of this year’s event. With talks from companies like Facebook, Cyanogen, Twitter, Sphero, HTC, Sony and many more, the Big Android BBQ provides a well rounded agenda of sessions and code challenges for attendees.
Not only is IDEAA focused on educating current developers but we are also dedicated to reaching out and exposing under-served communities to the joys of coding. That’s why this year we are reaching out to Dallas area school systems and offering a free student track at the BABBQ specifically focused on introducing DFW youth to the exciting world of coding & developing.
In an effort to support the local region Big android BBQ is introducing its first Texas Startup Alley and providing very low cost opportunities to Texas startups. Texas startups may even apply for 1 of 3 free spots in the Startup Alley.
Having the BABBQ in the DFW area allows IDEAA to offer this amazing value to our attendees while providing them a number of world-class activities to participate in on the margins of the conference. IDEAA is excited about our future of the BABBQ in the DFW Metroplex.
